🎄聖誕紅莓果醬 Christmas Cranberry Jam

酸甜紅莓搭配橙皮與紅酒,色澤鮮亮,是冬日送禮與配搭烤肉的絕佳選擇。即使買不到新鮮紅莓,也可用冷凍紅莓製作,快速又健康!

Christmas Cranberry Jam

每逢聖誕節,家中總會準備烘焙禮物,而自十月開始在超市看到新鮮紅莓上市,就知道節日的氣氛悄悄展開了!這款果醬是我每年聖誕都會煮的經典之一,酸甜醒胃、顏色喜氣,送禮或自用都非常討喜。

Cranberry(小紅莓)含豐富維他命 C 和抗氧化物,有助消炎和增強免疫力,是冬日保健的好選擇。看着一顆顆紅莓在鍋中受熱爆開,是最讓人期待的療癒畫面。

如果買不到新鮮紅莓,也可以使用冷凍紅莓。因為冷凍技術會將部分水分釋出,反而能縮短熬煮時間,並更好保留紅莓營養。

Every Christmas, I prepare homemade baked goods as festive gifts — and once fresh cranberries appear in supermarkets around October, it feels like the holiday spirit has quietly arrived. This jam has become one of my yearly traditions: bright in color, tangy and sweet, it’s perfect for gifting or enjoying at home.

Cranberries are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, known for their anti-inflammatory properties and immune-boosting benefits, making them an ideal winter ingredient. Watching the berries burst and simmer in the pot is a truly comforting and festive sight.

If fresh cranberries aren’t available, frozen ones work just as well. In fact, since freezing draws out some moisture, they can help reduce cooking time while preserving the berry’s nutrients.

Ingredients
  

Ingredients 材料

  • 200 g 紅莓 Cranberries
  • 1 no. 橙 (取汁及刨皮)
  • 6 tablespoon 原蔗糖 Muscovado Sugar
  • 6 tablespoon 紅酒 Red Wine

Instructions
 

做法

  • 橙洗淨後刨下表皮(避免刨到白色部分),榨汁備用。
  • 將所有材料放入鍋中,小火加熱並煮至紅莓變軟。
  • 轉中火繼續加熱,煮至果醬變濃稠、表面有皺摺,即可完成。

Method

  • Grate the orange (avoid the bitter white pith). Squeeze the juice.
  • Add all ingredients into the saucepan and cook slowly over low heat until cranberries are soft.
  • Turn to medium heat and cook further until thickened and it reaches the setting point.

    Using frozen cranberries makes the jam quicker to prepare, shortens the cooking time, and helps retain more of the fruit’s nutrients.
  • 在歐美,Cranberry Sauce 是節日餐桌上常見配角,但在香港或亞洲其他地區並不普遍。這款果醬可作為精緻版的 cranberry sauce,用來搭配烤雞、火腿、芝士拼盤,甚至抹在麵包、夾在蛋糕中都別有一番風味。
    In Western countries, cranberry sauce is a holiday staple — but in places like Hong Kong or other parts of Asia, it’s far less common. This jam serves as a more refined take on traditional cranberry sauce. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, ham, cheese boards, or simply spread on toast and layered in cakes.

Growing up in Hong Kong, while many children around me were listening to Cantopop, an eight-year-old girl was already humming Careless Whisper. I would spend my pocket money on cassette tapes and read the lyric sheets over and over again, looking up words in the dictionary. My dream was simple: one day, I wanted to meet him.

Decades later, that little girl is now living in the UK. Life has taken me further than I could ever have imagined, yet sadly I never got the chance to meet him.

Perhaps that is George Michael’s greatest legacy for me. His music crossed cultures, languages and generations, and accompanied me through different chapters of my life. The lovely owners packed everything separately — broth and toppings apart, while the tofu puffs were left soaking in the soup to absorb all that delicious flavour.

Takeaway dishes can sometimes lose a little magic, but so much thought has gone into the details here that it still scored top marks at home.

Even my notoriously picky husband couldn’t stop praising the pork belly and the rich, comforting broth 😍

And for those who don’t eat meat, there are vegetarian options too 🌱
